The Miriam Celebrates 100 years of
Healing, Health, and Hope

The Miriam Hospital hosted their Centennial Celebration on Saturday, May 2, welcoming 425 donors, friends, and supporters to the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Susan Bazar and Susan H. Kaplan, Co-chairs of the Centennial Campaign, served as co-chairs for the elegant evening, which featured sumptuous food, live music, and an immersive, multi-media historical experience that highlighted the century of impact The Miriam has had on the community it serves.

Alan G. Hassenfeld Posthumously Honored as The Miriam Person of the Year

Alan G. Hassenfeld was posthumously honored as The Miriam Person of the Year during The Miriam Hospital’s Centennial Celebration. As Honorary Co-Chair of the Centennial Campaign and a Life Trustee of The Miriam Hospital Foundation Board, Alan was a steadfast champion of the hospital’s mission. His deep commitment was inspired by a proud family legacy, one he upheld with grace, humility, and a profound sense of purpose.

A Life-Changing Surgery Restores Mobility and Joy

Anna Corwin had tried nearly everything to alleviate her increasingly debilitating back pain. Once a very active nurse who loved gardening, Anna had begun, over several years, to use a wheelchair to get around. Travelling, shopping, and working in the yard all became problematic. “I had extensive physical therapy and then spinal injections, but they all stopped helping,” she says.
