Lifespan Names Sarah Frost Chief of Hospital Operations and President of Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s

Lifespan is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Frost, MBA, as its new chief of hospital operations and president of Rhode Island Hospital and its Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

As Lifespan’s chief of hospital operations, she oversees quality, safety and patient care coordination across Rhode Island, Hasbro Children’s, The Miriam, Newport, and Bradley hospitals, in furtherance of Lifespan’s system goals and strategic plan. As president of Rhode Island Hospital and its Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Frost oversees day-to-day operations at the hospitals, including high-quality and safe patient care, staff engagement, patient experience, process improvement, and operating financial results.

Lifespan Makes U.S. News & World Report's
2024-25 Best Hospitals List

U.S. News & World Report released its 2024-2025 Best Hospitals ratings, and both The Miriam Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital were recognized in the annual rankings, with The Miriam Hospital being named the top hospital in the state, and both hospitals receiving “high performing” scores in specialty care.

Iannuccelli Award

Ted Fischer Receives Edward A. Iannuccilli, MD
Civic Leader of the Year Award

On Thursday, September 12, the Rhode Island Hospital Foundation Board presented Ted Fischer with the annual Edward A. Iannuccilli, MD, Civic Leader of the Year Award. Ted has run six Boston Marathons, including the 2024 marathon, as part of the Golf Fights Cancer team. He has raised $363,200 for the Richard A. Browning Cancer Research Fund, a fund that was established in honor of Ted’s longtime friend, Richard Browning, MD, and has played a significant role in the advancement of cancer research being done by Howard Safran, MD, Chief of Hematology/Oncology at the Lifespan Cancer Institute at Rhode Island, The Miriam, and Newport hospitals.

This distinctive award is presented annually to an individual who demonstrates exceptional service, extraordinary leadership, and dedication to Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. The recipient inspires others through their commitment, embodies the hospitals' mission and values, and serves as a dedicated ambassador, fostering strong connections with the community.
