Bradley Hospital
Winter 2025
peace

It’s that beautiful season when we wish one another joy, and we wish one another peace. I wish those things for all in the Bradley Hospital family – children and their caregivers, staff, donors, people who haven’t needed what Bradley offers yet but might one day. Each of us deserves the gift of joy, and the comfort of peace.

When I think about why I have made Bradley a philanthropic priority, I reflect on joy and peace, and what it means to have those things as a child or a parent. Too often, those who come to us arrive without either, and it is our mission to help them rediscover both through hope and healing.

Thank you for believing in the Bradley Hospital mission to heal the hearts and minds of children and their families, and for doing what you can to make it possible. As we look ahead, I wish you good health and much happiness in the year to come.

Warmest wishes,
AMS

Gratitude - Lucas story

Ditching the Glitch:
Lucas’s Story of Courage and Healing

At just twelve years old, Lucas was overwhelmed by fear. His hands were cracked and bleeding from compulsive washing—five pumps of soap, again and again—trying to scrub away the anxiety that had taken hold. Diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Lucas was terrified of bees, of being poisoned, of simply being outside.

His family felt helpless. “Lucas was scared of the world,” recalls his mom, Alethea. When he began talking about hurting himself, they knew they needed more than reassurance—they needed real help.

Provide Holiday Cheer to the Children Spending Their Holidays at Bradley Hospital

Once again, we hope you can help us make the holidays extra special for the young people who must spend them with us here at Bradley. It’s an emotional time of year for all the children in our care, and to make it more challenging, many of our patient families do not have the resources for presents. Our nursing leaders have selected toys, games, and other items that are both fun and therapeutic, and we hope you will consider adding some extra gifts to your Amazon carts as you do your holiday or household shopping.

Last year, we all came together to make it a special time for the kids, and with gratitude for your support of every kind throughout the year, we share the Amazon wish lists for Bradley’s inpatient programs below. Please share them with friends, family, and on your social media pages if you are so inclined. Email sfidalgo@brownhealth.org if you would like a tax receipt. Thank you!
