After a two-year hiatus from in-person fundraisers, The Miriam Hospital welcomed back more than 400 donors, friends, and supporters for their 2022 Gala and Auction, which took place Saturday, September 10, at the WaterFire Arts Center in Providence.

In July, Vanzetta James, DNP, MBA joined The Miriam Hospital as its Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. Dr. James comes to The Miriam with over 20 years nursing leadership experience in achieving Magnet® recognition teaching, and academic medical centers.

2022 HWS Golf Classic Benefits The Miriam Hospital
On Monday, September 12 the Savit family held their 21st annual golf outing in honor of their late father and husband, Herbert W. Savit. Proceeds raised from this event, held at Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingstown, RI support ongoing research to find a cure for Myelofibrosis, a form of blood cancer. In Support of The Miriam, “Bench Press for Cancer” Returns to Brown University for its 18th Year!
On Monday, October 24, Brown Football will host its 18th Annual Bench Press for Cancer on the Main Green. The annual event was created in 2004 to help former team captain Lawrence Rubida ’05 and his family pay for the medical bills associated with his battle against Ewing’s Sarcoma. It continues a longstanding tradition of raising thousands of dollars to benefit the Cancer Survivorship Program at The Miriam, which is a principal teaching hospital for Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School.
