Now This is Something to Smile About!
Thanks to the generosity of Hands of Hope, a Texas-based nonprofit organization, The Miriam Hospital was recently the grateful recipient of 1,020 individual containers of Play-Doh! Our patient experience volunteers are over the moon to have this creative care play option, which will be used to help patients regain hand strength.
Hands of Hope is a swim team founded by four Texas siblings, grades 6 to 12, who raise money by giving swim lessons and collecting donations. The idea was inspired by their grandfather, who had a stroke and lost mobility on one side of his body. The kids were trying to find ways to help him regain functionality, and they found that Play-Doh helped him gain hand strength and dexterity.
THANK YOU, Hands of Hope!
