The Browning Cancer Research Fund was established in May 2013 at the Rhode Island Hospital Foundation in honor of Dr. Richard Browning to provide support to investigators conducting cancer research in pediatric or adult cancers. Dr. Browning was Chief of Anesthesia at Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children's for over two decades before losing his battle with pancreatic cancer in November, 2012. To honor his legacy and in tribute and gratitude for the care he received at Lifespan, now Brown University Health, the fund was established to support our research team which is making tremendous strides to understand, treat, and hopefully one day cure cancer. As one of the primary teaching hospitals of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital is an important player in translational research - research that takes findings from the laboratory and applies them to medical practice for patient care. Our ability to offer oncology patients cutting edge treatments through clinical trials is making a profound impact on patient care in Rhode Island and Southeastern New England. Thank you for supporting the Browning Cancer Research Fund.
