The Bradley Sleep Lab, founded and directed by Mary A. Carskadon, PhD, has long been an internationally recognized center for research on sleep and development.
In 2021, Dr. Carskadon won a National Institutes of Health (NIH) COBRE grant and is now director of the Emma Pendleton Bradley Hospital COBRE Center on Sleep and Circadian Rhythms in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. It is the first and only NIH-funded research center that aims to bridge sleep and circadian knowledge with outstanding child and adolescent mental health research and clinical care.
Even as capacity has grown through COBRE, the core commitment to the future of sleep science and the Bradley Sleep Lab continues, including development of the next generation of research scientists through the Sleep for Science Summer Apprentice Program. Each year, 12 undergraduate students with a strong interest in behavioral sciences research are selected to participate and are supported through three months of intensive hands-on training. Our graduates have gone on to advance outstanding careers in behavioral health science, helping to transform the lives of both children and adults.
